Devi Mahagauri has four arms and carries a trident and damaru. She is the Goddess of kindness and morality. Her mount is a white bull. She is said to be nine years old. Parvati did as told by Brahma and regained her white complexion and beauty. She came to be known as Mahaguari meaning extremely fair.
This is the form of Goddess Parvati when she did penance to marry Lord Shiva. It is said that she performed Tapasya for several years and that caused soil and dust to collect on her body. Lord Shiva cleaned her with Ganga water. Hence, purity is depicted from Goddess Mahagauri. Her complexion is extremely fair and adorns white colour, due to which is usually compared to the moon and white flower. She is also known as Shwetambardhara.

Maa Maha Gauri is the 8th form of Maa Durga, it is believed that up to the age of 16 the Maa Parvati was having extremely fair complexion, due to this reason she gets name Maha Gauri means “Ultimate fair”. On this day, we worship small girls.
